About Me
I am a fourth-year journalism and English major at the State University of New York at New Paltz. I am expected to graduate at the end of the spring 2026 semester.
My passion for journalism started early. At the age of 13 I penned an editorial and sent it to my local publication about my experience with Lyme disease. Since then, my passion for the craft has only grown.
Over my college career I have fostered my reporting, writing and photography skills, taking a multitude of journalism classes and serving as an editor, reporter and photographer on the university’s newspaper, the New Paltz Oracle. Since joining, my role on the New Paltz Oracle has only grown, and I am currently editor-in-chief of the paper, a position I will hold until graduation.
During college I also interned at the Legislative Gazette, a publication which covers the people, politics and policy of New York state from the capitol building in Albany. I served as staff writer and photographer for the publication.
My work for these publications has been viewed by tens of thousands of readers and has been republished on sites with hundreds of thousands of followers.
In my free time I have taken further initiative to improve my capacity as a journalist. I received a certificate of completion in the AP Stylebook Workshop, and am currently completing a copy editing certification through the Poynter Institute and ACES. I also frequently write and publish stories on my personal blog about subjects that interest me, and as a method of getting more practice and experience in the field.
These experiences have given me the work ethic and editorial insight to make competent decisions, write strong and thorough articles and work well with others when the pressure is high.
I am a dedicated, thorough and passionate journalist who loves the field and loves to work within it. I look forward to working with you.
